Police ID victim of north Columbus shooting as 24-year-old man

Police said that during the investigation, it was determined that 19-year-old Jevin Campbell intervened in the theft of a vehicle when the victim was shot.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Columbus Division of Police has identified the victim killed in a shooting last week on the city’s north side as a 24-year-old man.

Police said a call came in around 5 a.m. for shots fired at The Trails at Arbor Court apartment complex on Belcher Drive. Officers searched the area, but didn't find anything.

Just before 8:15 a.m., another call came in for a report of a dead body. Officers found Yahya Mohamed who was pronounced dead at 8:19 a.m.

Thursday night, police said they arrested 19-year-old Jevin Campbell in connection to the shooting. Campbell is being charged with murder.

Police said that during the investigation, it was determined that Campbell intervened in the theft of a vehicle when the victim was shot.
