Probationary officer arrested for OVI, fired from Columbus Division of Police

According to the report, the officer agreed to all of the standardized field sobriety testing and was arrested for an OVI.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — A Columbus Division of Police probationary officer was arrested earlier this month for allegedly driving while drunk on Interstate 70, according to a report from the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The officer was observed by a trooper committing multiple marked lane violations as she traveled down I-70 on March 2 around 1 a.m.

The trooper followed her vehicle as she exited onto Brice Road and pulled her over for a traffic stop.

According to the report, the officer agreed to all of the standardized field sobriety testing and was arrested for an OVI.

She was taken to the Columbus post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol where they administered a breathalyzer. The result showed her blood-alcohol content was .098 blood-alcohol content, which is above the legal limit of .08, the report says.

She was then cited and released to a friend.

A letter to Police Chief Elaine Bryant says that the officer’s license was confiscated and she was issued a summons to appear.

The letter also asks for the officer’s employment with the division to be terminated due to the “violation of the division rules of conduct.” Her termination was approved on March 7.
