Blue Jackets confirm Columbus will not be hub city for potential NHL restart

Columbus was one of 10 finalists to host games as part of the league's 24-team playoff to finish the 2019-20 season.

The Columbus Blue Jackets have confirmed the city of Columbus will not be one of the two cities for the National Hockey League's potential restart in July.

“While we are disappointed by the news, the fact that Columbus was strongly considered speaks highly of our organization and our market. The League was confident that we could have successfully served as a hub city when play resumes and was appreciative of our efforts throughout the process. We expect an announcement from the NHL soon on which cities have been chosen and look forward to finding out where we will be playing.”

Columbus was one of 10 finalists to host games as part of the league's 24-team playoff to finish the 2019-20 season.

If the league resumes, the Blue Jackets would open the playoffs against the Toronto Maples Leafs.
