Valleyview police chief injured in crash near west Columbus

The report did not say whether the police chief was on a police-related run when the crash happened.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The police chief for the Village of Valleyview was involved in a crash with another vehicle near west Columbus Tuesday evening.

Just before 8:10 p.m., Chief Gregory Wilson was inside a police cruiser heading east on Dibblee Avenue approaching North Hague Avenue, according to a crash report from the Ohio Department of Public Safety. Meanwhile, a 2019 Subaru Legacy was heading north on Hague Avenue approaching the Dibblee Avenue intersection.

The report said Wilson failed to yield the right of way to oncoming traffic and collided with the Subaru Legacy.

Both vehicles sustained serious damage from the crash, according to the report.

Wilson was treated at the scene for possible injuries. The driver and passenger of the Subaru were taken to Mount Carmel Franklinton for treatment of possible injuries.

The crash report did not say whether Wilson was on a police-related run.

The Franklinton Township Police Department handled the investigation.
