Kroger rolls out new security measures at several Columbus stores, including receipt checks

The safety measure has already been deployed and impacts six Kroger locations in the city.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Kroger will now be checking receipts at several Columbus locations after a reported increase in theft.

Mark Bruce, a spokesperson for the company, confirmed the new measure on Sunday, saying that safety is one of their core values.

The safety measure has already been deployed and impacts the following six Kroger locations:

  • 2000 East Main Street, Columbus
  • 150 West Sycamore Street, Columbus
  • 1350 North High Street, Columbus
  • 1745 Morse Road, Columbus
  • 3600 Soldano Blvd, Columbus
  • 3637 South High Street, Columbus

10TV has reported multiple theft and shooting incidents at the Krogers included on the list.

“Although early in implementation, we have received positive feedback from associates and customers,” Bruce said.

Other grocery giants like Costco and Sam's Club have been checking customers' receipts for years to help curb theft and keep prices low.
