Police: Woman killed, 2 juveniles injured in north Columbus crash

Police said the Volkswagen Jetta failed to yield and attempted to turn left onto East 17th Avenue when it was struck by the Ford F-150.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — A woman was killed and three other people were injured in a crash in the South Linden neighborhood Friday morning.

Just before 12:40 a.m., the Columbus Division of Police said a woman was driving north on Cleveland Avenue toward East 17th Avenue in a 2013 Ford F-150. At the same time, a man and a woman were heading south on Cleveland Avenue in a 2017 Volkswagen Jetta.

Police said the Jetta failed to yield and attempted to turn left onto East 17th Avenue when it was struck by the F-150.

The passenger of the Jetta, who police identified as Kourtney Ivery, had to be extricated from the vehicle. She was taken to Grant Medical Center in serious condition and later died from her injuries.

The driver of the Jetta was taken to Grant Medical Center and his condition was described as stable. Additionally, two juveniles were taken to Nationwide Children’s Hospital for treatment.

This is the sixth fatal traffic crash in Columbus this year.
