Police ID 42-year-old woman killed in single-vehicle crash on I-71 in north Columbus

Police said a black Chevy Suburban was traveling south on I-71 when it lost control and went off the freeway, striking bushes and a tree.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — A 42-year-old woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 71 in north Columbus Saturday afternoon, according to city police.

Officers were initially called to the southbound lanes of I-71 just north of East North Broadway Street around 2:05 p.m. for a vehicle crash with an injury. 

Police said a black Chevy Suburban was traveling south on I-71 when it lost control and went off the freeway, striking bushes and a tree.

The driver, identified as Monet Landrum, was pronounced dead on scene by firefighters at 2:18 p.m.

No other vehicles were involved.

I-71 southbound was closed between East Hudson Street and Morse Road due to a crash but has since reopened.

The Accident Investigation Unit responded to the scene and initiated an investigation.
