Police ID victim killed in ‘road rage’ shooting on I-670 as 52-year-old man; suspect arrested

The suspect vehicle, a black Ford F-150, fled the scene but was located on Saturday.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Columbus Division of Police has identified the victim who was shot and killed on Interstate 670 Friday evening.

Police say 52-year-old Bret Bennett, of Grove City, was shot in what appears to be a “road rage” incident.

The shooting took place on I-670 East at North 4th Street near downtown Columbus just after 5 p.m.

Bennett was taken to Grant Medical Center where he later died, according to police.

The suspect vehicle, a black Ford F-150, fled the scene but was located on Saturday.

Police have arrested 37-year-old Tony Brock in connection to the fatal shooting. 

According to Franklin County Municipal Court documents, while locating the truck, Brock, through his attorney, contacted detectives and admitted that he was the person who fired the handgun and killed Bennett.

Homicide detectives are continuing to investigate the fatal shooting.
