The State Medical Board suspended a Lewis Center obstetrician's license for sexual misconduct.

The board voted to suspend Patrick J. Muffley's license for 60 days.

The board said Muffley had an inappropriate relationship with a patient through sexually explicit Facebook messages and text messages.

The medical board said it violated their rules.

The suspension goes into effect 31 days after the suspension is mailed to Muffley. This allows him time to arrange other care for his patients. Muffley is not allowed to see patients during this time.

The medical board said Muffley can return to his practice after the two month suspension if he complete ethics training. Muffley will also be on probation for at least two years.
