Police seek to ID 2 suspects in beating, robbing of man at south Columbus carryout

According to police, on Jan. 22 a man was approached in the cooler bay of a carryout store in the 1500 block of Frebis Avenue by two suspects.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Columbus Division of Police is asking for the public's help in identifying two men accused of robbing and viciously assaulting a man in Columbus' South Side neighborhood last month.

According to police, on Jan. 22 a man was approached in the cooler bay of a carryout store in the 1500 block of Frebis Avenue by two suspects, believed to be in their mid-to-late 20s.

Without provocation, one of the suspects began to repeatedly beat the victim with a closed fist. Police say the assault pushed the victim backward and outside of the building where the other suspect raised a handgun. 

Money was then taken from the victim who had sustained facial injuries. He was taken to a nearby hospital and treated.

The primary suspect is described as being anywhere from five feet, six inches to five feet, 10 inches, weighing between 175 to 180 pounds and having long dreadlocks. During the incident, he was wearing a light hoodie, khaki cargo pants and black shoes.

The other suspect is described as being between five feet, six inches to five feet, seven inches and weighing 200 pounds. He was wearing a blue hoodie and blue sweatpants during the incident.
