Franklin County Municipal Court offering Valentine’s Day civil wedding ceremonies

Those wanting to wed on one of the most romantic days of the year are asked to schedule their appointment online.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Franklin County Municipal Court is preparing for an influx of weddings as Valentine’s Day approaches.

The courtroom will be transformed by staff into a makeshift wedding chapel with heart-shaped decorations, cupcakes and cookies. On Valentine’s Day last year, the court reported that they set a record and its judges performed 97 wedding ceremonies.

Those wanting to wed on one of the most romantic days of the year are asked to schedule their appointment online.

In addition to scheduling, couples must bring a marriage license with them, which costs $65. The Franklin County Probate Court is located at 373 South High St. on the 23rd floor.

Couples must also pay a $25 filing fee before the ceremony at the Municipal Court Clerk’s cashier’s window on the third floor of the 375 South High St. building.

The court says several judges will perform weddings that day and there is no additional fee for the judges to conduct the ceremony.
