A former Millersport pastor was sentenced on Wednesday for a having a sexual relationship with a16-year-old church member.
Daniel Monk was sentenced to 6 years in prison for sexual battery, 10TV's Tino Ramosreported.
Prosecutors said Monk met the girl when he counseled her through her parents' divorce a fewyears ago while he was a pastor at Souls Harbor Pentecostal Church.
Monk's family asked the judge for mercy. His mother, Patricia Monk, said her son had never beenin trouble before.
After he completes his sentence, Monk will be placed on probation for five years and will haveto register as a Tier III sex offender.
Church leaders said Monk resigned as pastor in September, shortly before he was charged.
