Ryan Day, Chip Kelly discuss first day of spring practice for Ohio State

The 2024-25 Buckeyes will feature a lot of players from last year's team, but plenty of notable new faces as well.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Head coach Ryan Day and newly hired offensive coordinator Chip Kelly spoke with the media Tuesday after Ohio State's first day of spring practice.

The 2024-25 Buckeyes will feature a lot of players from last year's team, but plenty of notable new faces as well.

Ohio State was busy solidifying its roster through the transfer portal, signing former Kansas State quarterback Will Howard and Alabama quarterback Julian Sayin. Safety Caleb Downs and center Seth McLaughlin also transferred to Ohio State from Alabama earlier this year.

It's not just the transfers headlining the Ohio State roster.

Many Buckeyes have returned to Ohio State for their senior year, including some who were projected to be drafted in the second or third rounds of the NFL Draft.

No. 1 running back TreVeyon Henderson put off the NFL Draft to play at Ohio Stadium another season after injuries affected his production in the last two. The addition of 1,000-yard rusher Quinshon Judkins from Ole Miss potentially gives the Buckeyes one of the best backfield tandems in college football.

Top defensive linemen Jack Sawyer, J.T. Tuimoloau and Tyleik Williams all stayed.

The Buckeyes have to replace excellent starting linebackers Tommy Eichenberg and Steele Chambers but will return three top cornerbacks and two safeties.
