Las Vegas Raiders select Ohio State LB Tommy Eichenberg in fifth round of NFL Draft

Eichenberg was a three-year starter at linebacker for Ohio State and played a total of five seasons from 2019-23.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State linebacker Tommy Eichenberg was selected in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL Draft by the Las Vegas Raiders Saturday afternoon.

Eichenberg was a three-year starter at linebacker for Ohio State and played a total of five seasons from 2019-23. He played in 41 games and started 27.

The Cleveland native recorded 266 total tackles and 3.5 sacks. He also had two picks.

Eichenberg was a two-time captain for the Buckeyes. He earned The Big Ten Conference's Butkus-Fitzgerald Linebacker of the Year award and was named first-team all-Big Ten by coaches and the media in 2023.

He missed three games in 2023 because of injury but still recorded 82 tackles to rank second on the team.

Eichenberg's 77 solo tackles in 2022 was the most by a Buckeye since Ryan Shazier had 101 in 2013 and the second-most by a Buckeye in the last 20 years.

During Ohio State's Rose Bowl victory over Utah in 2021, Eichenberg recorded 17 tackles, including 11 solo stops.

His brother, Liam Eichenberg, played at Notre Dame as an offensive lineman and is in his third season with the Miami Dolphins.
