DETROIT — Ohio State tight end Cade Stover was selected in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft by the Houston Texans Saturday afternoon.

Stover only missed one game during his time at Ohio State from 2021-23. The Mansfield native started 24 games during the last two seasons.

The senior had a very solid 2023 campaign with 41 receptions for 576 yards and five touchdowns. He was voted the Kwalick-Clark Big Ten Tight End of the Year for his accomplishments. He was also named a first-team all-Big Ten Conference and was a finalist for the John Mackey Award.

Stover started his career at Ohio State in 2019 as a defensive end but moved to tight end the following year. He also played linebacker for the Rose Bowl in 2021 when Ohio State beat Utah 48-45.

Scouting reports praise Stover for his smooth athleticism and secure hands as he did not drop a pass in 2023. Coaches have called Stover, a two-time captain, "one of the best teammates in the program."

Despite not being a top-tier blocker, he's solid in all other aspects and should help move the chains.
