COLUMBUS, Ohio — A longtime Columbus radio station has officially played its last song.

Randy Malloy, the president of CD 92.9, posted on Facebook around midnight that WWCD Radio was done as of Sunday.

The WWCD brand was around for nearly 34 years and was established in 1990 as an independently owned and operated alternative rock station.

In 1990, it started as CD101 at 101.1 on the FM dial. The station moved CD102.5 in 2010 and to 92.9 in 2020 for the third and final time.

Malloy said the decision to end operations was because of several reasons, but he did not specify why.

“It has been said before, but we can never express our deepest gratitude enough to the fans, musicians, staff, advertisers, collaborators and families for letting us be part of your lives these past 34 years,” Malloy said.

In January, CD 92.9 went off the air after the station "was unable to finalize an agreement" with FCC licensees ICS Communications, Inc. and Delmar Communications, Inc. that would have allowed them to continue broadcasting on the FM dial.

WWCD continued streaming 92.9 on its website until April 28.
