NEWARK, Ohio — Editor's note: The Newark Division of Police initially said in a press release that two men had died in the crash. Police then sent out a correction saying the one of them is still in the hospital. The story has been updated.

A 19-year-old man was killed and another 19-year-old man was injured in a crash in Newark on Thursday.

Newark police said the single-vehicle crash happened around 6:10 p.m. on State Route 16 westbound at the West Church Street on-ramp.

When officers arrived, they saw the men had been ejected from the vehicle.

The men were taken to area hospitals.

The driver of the vehicle is in critical condition at Grant Medical Center.

The man who died was identified as Riley Yeter of Newark.

Police said speed is believed to be a factor in the crash, which is still under investigation.

The road was shut down for about four hours while police investigated but has since reopened.
