COLUMBUS, Ohio - Stonewall Columbus has announced this year's Pride Parade will no longer take place on October 3, 2020 because of concerns about the coronavirus pandemic.

Instead, Stonewall said it will release a Pride Parade video on that day called Columbus "Prides of History".

It was originally announced in April that the parade, usually held in June, was postponed.

In June, it was announced the festival was not going to be held in October but possibly in 2021.

In a statement posted on the group's Facebook page on Thursday, Stonewall Columbus interim executive director Densil R. Porteous said the decision to cancel the parade was not an easy decision.

"Stonewall Columbus commits to continue doing the systemic change work needed to ensure we are embracing all of our community while centering and uplifting those who are most in need. As an organization we commit to doing the work needed to rethink Pride; in past weeks we’ve started that work. In the coming weeks we will work to engage the community in consideration of what a reimagined Columbus Pride looks like in 2021 and beyond," he said.
