Police: Man hit by stray bullet in front of Short North business

Police are investigating after a man was hit by a stray bullet early Friday morning in front of a business in the Short North.

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Police are investigating after a man was hit by a stray bullet early Friday morning in front of a business in the Short North.

Columbus police say the shooting happened in front of Monarch, a bar located at 700 North High Street. A call about the shooting was received by police around 2:15 a.m.

Officials say when officers responded to the scene, the victim was found down the street. He had been shot one time in the face, according to police.

Authorities say it's believed that as people were leaving the business, a fight broke out between unknown individuals. Investigators say someone pulled out a gun and fired it at least three times.

The victim was taken to Grant Medical Center for treatment and is expected to survive.

Police have not issued any information about a suspect.
