Man dies after crashing truck in Pickaway County

James Herlan, 34, was pronounced dead at the scene.

PICKAWAY COUNTY, Ohio — A 34-year-old man died after crashing his truck into a tree in Pickaway County Wednesday night.

The Pickaway County Sheriff's Office said its dispatch center received a message about a crash on Florence Chapel Pike near state Route 104 around 11:30 p.m.

Deputies arrived at the scene and found a 2017 black F-150 off the road with heavy damage. The driver of the truck, James Herlan, was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the sheriff's office, Herlan was traveling eastbound around a curve and lost control. The truck flipped and smashed into a tree, causing the truck to land back on its wheels.

The crash remains under investigation.
