COLUMBUS – An iconic location in German Village has closed its doors.

The original location of Max & Erma’s, 739 S. Third St., served its customers for the final time Sunday night.

Glacier Restaurant Group, based in Montana, which currently owns all Max & Erma’s said in a press release that it is selling the building to an entity known as 739 German Village LLC, and closing the restaurant.

“After a thorough review of available options, the building could no longer maintain the standards customers deserve,” the release stated.

“All employees at the German Village Max & Erma’s have been offered positions at other locations,” said James Blystone, VP Franchising & Communication with Glacier Restaurant Group. “We will absolutely miss the German Village community, are grateful for the wonderful employees who passionately served our guests, and our incredible customers who have continuously supported us over the years.

“While this is a goodbye to our German Village location, the Max & Erma’s brand and other locations are not going anywhere; and the heritage of the German Village Max & Erma’s will be visible and alive at other locations.”

The release stated that no other locations were being considered for closure.
