ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — A man was fatally struck while walking in Ross County Monday evening, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Just before 6:10 p.m., a 2006 Pontiac Torrent was heading south on U.S. Route 23 near milepost 8 while 53-year-old Timothy Oyer of Chillicothe was walking west. OSHP said the Torrent struck Oyer in the southbound lanes.
Oyer died from his injuries. The driver of the Torrent sustained minor injuries from the crash and was taken to Adena Regional Medical Center for treatment.
The Ross County Sheriff's Office, Scioto Township Fire/EMS, VA Fire Department, the Ohio Department of Transportation and the Ross County Coroner's Office assisted with the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
