25-year-old man arrested following shooting outside southwest Columbus Walmart

Police said both the victim and the witness were uncooperative with the investigation.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — A 25-year-old man is in custody in connection to a shooting outside a southwest Columbus Walmart Wednesday evening.

Officers with the Columbus Division of Police were called to the Walmart located at 1221 Georgesville Rd. on a report of a shooting just before 6:20 p.m.

Police said the shooting happened in the parking lot outside of the store.

A vehicle occupied by the suspect, the victim and a witness left the scene, but officers were able to stop the vehicle just a few miles away in the 4300 block of West Broad Street.

The victim sustained a single gunshot wound and was transported to Grant Medical Center in critical condition. In an update Thursday morning, police said the shooting victim is expected to survive.

Police said both the victim and the witness were uncooperative with the investigation. The suspect was interviewed and the case will be presented for grand jury indictment.
