Judge Hands Down Fine In Columbus’ First-Ever Transgender Discrimination Case

A judge has ordered the Capital Club to pay a $1,000 fine. Get details.

A judge ordered the owners of the Capital Club to pay a $1,000 fine in the city’s first-ever transgender discrimination case.

Attorneys for Columbus Hospitality LLC, managers of private downtown Capital Club, pleaded no contest in January to a charge of unlawful employment practices against 53-year-old Savanna DeLong.

DeLong worked as a massage therapist for the club.

DeLong alleged that the club discriminated against her by not using her services when they found out she was making the transition from being a man to being a woman.

DeLong thanked the city on Monday for pursuing the charges.

A similar charge against the club’s general manager was dismissed after he completed diversity training.
