Victim killed in northeast Columbus shooting identified

Police said one person was detained in connection with the incident.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Columbus Division of Police has identified a man who was fatally shot outside a northeast Columbus apartment complex early Tuesday.

Officers were called to Arlington Park Apartments in the 2600 block of Divot Place, just south of Agler Road, around 1:55 a.m. Police said officers found a male victim, later identified as 38-year-old Anthony Cato, outside of the building with a gunshot wound.

Cato was taken to the hospital in critical condition and was pronounced dead at 5:18 a.m.

Police said two people were detained in connection with the incident but did not provide additional information.
