Court records: Man sentenced to at least 9 years for shooting, killing 16-year-old girl earlier this year

Franklin County court records state that Tejuan Stanley will serve nine to 13 and a half years in prison for involuntary manslaughter.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — A man accused of fatally shooting a 16-year-old girl in Franklinton earlier this year has been sentenced to at least nine years in prison, according to court documents.

Franklin County court records state that Tejuan Stanley will serve nine to 13 and a half years in prison for involuntary manslaughter.

On May 9, officers with the Columbus Division of Police were called to the 700 block of West Rich Street and found a girl, who police later identified as Elisha Judd, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. She was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers arrested Stanley at a bus stop in front of a Wendy's on West Broad Street shortly after the shooting.

Court records say Stanley admitted to firing the gun while it was pointed in the direction of Judd, striking her in the head.

Stanley told police he took apart the gun and when he put it back together, he accidentally racked a round into the chamber and did not know he had it loaded, according to court records.
