Cayon Drake is charged in connection to a shooting during a drug deal Tuesday night that left two people dead.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Columbus Division of Police arrested a man charged in connection to a shooting during a drug deal Tuesday night that left two people dead, including a 16-year-old boy.

Around 8:50 p.m., officers were called to the area of East 11th and Rarig avenues for a reported shooting and found 19-year-old Antoine Moss Jr. and 16-year-old Jeremy Heglar suffering from gunshot wounds.

Medics arrived at the scene and Moss was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:59 p.m. Heglar was taken to Grant Medical Center in critical condition and was later pronounced deceased at 9:52 p.m. after receiving medical care.

A 16-year-old girl, who police listed as a third victim, told officers that the shooting happened on East 10th Avenue.

Franklin County Municipal Court records state that Heglar and the 16-year-old girl pulled up to a house in the 2900 block of East 10th Avenue to meet Moss and 18-year-old Cayon Drake to sell them drugs.

Moss and Drake walked behind Heglar’s vehicle and got into the back seat. At some point during the deal, Moss and Drake pulled their firearms and fatally shot Heglar.

Police wrote in the affidavit that Heglar returned fire, shooting and killing Moss and injuring Drake in his right bicep.

Drake got out and ran to the back of the vehicle. He then turned and fired several more rounds into Heglar’s vehicle before running away.

The 16-year-old girl was in the vehicle when shots were fired but was not injured during the incident.

Drake was arrested by Columbus police and is charged with two counts of murder. He is scheduled to appear in Franklin County Municipal Court at 9 a.m. Thursday.
