Police in Columbus say a 27-year-old woman being questioned in a prostitution and drug investigation jumped to her death from a third-floor hotel window.
A police spokesman says two plainclothes officers were running warrant checks on four women and two men in a room at a Red Roof Inn in north Columbus on Tuesday night when Tiffany Vanover "suddenly went toward the window." She died later at a hospital.
Sgt. Rich Weiner says the operation was routine until Vanover "got scared" and jumped.
The Columbus Dispatch reports that the agency's critical incident response team, which typically responds to officer-involved shootings, is investigating because the woman's death occurred while she was in custody.
