The sound of tornado sirens may have caught you off guard on Wednesday morning, but don't worry- it was only a test.

The 9:50 a.m. siren test was conducted as part of Severe Weather Week.  Tornado sirenssounded across the state as authorities looked for malfunctions or other problems.

In Franklin County, the Emergency Management Agency said preliminary reports showed no problemswith any of the county's 172 sirens, 10TV's Patrick Bell reported.

More in-depth diagnostic tests will come back later and reveal any underlying issues.

Two sirens failed in the city of Delaware, out of the city's total seven sirens.

In Union County, a siren in Marysville did not work, but it was being serviced at the time ofthe test.

For some central Ohio residents, Wednesday may have been the first time they have heard tornadosirens in their neighborhood.  New sirens have been recently installed in somecommunities.

Other areas are still looking to add them.

More than 160,000 people live in Delaware County, but the county remains short on sirens, Bellreported.

There are only 13 across the county, and most are located in or near the city of Delaware.

Studies have shown the county could use 46 additional sirens, and two levies would havegenerated the $2 million needed to foot the bill, Bell reported.

Voters overwhelmingly voted 'no' in November.
