COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A loaded gun was found in a carry-on bag Monday by the Transportation Security Administration at John Glenn Columbus International Airport.
A TSA officer alerted police after finding the loaded 9-millimeter handgun in the bag at a checkpoint.
Guns can be carried in checked luggage if they are declared to the airline, carried in a proper case and unloaded. Guns are not allowed in carry-on bags.
This is the 23rd firearm located by TSA officers at security checkpoints at John Glenn Columbus International Airport in 2019.
TSA is reminding travelers to check their website for guidelines on how to properly travel with a firearm.
