COLUMBUS, Ohio — South High School was placed on a brief lockdown Tuesday afternoon after the school received a report from a parent that two "unknown teens" were let into the building.

According to Columbus City Schools' Interim Executive Director of Communications Jacqueline Bryant, the school went on Level 2 lockdown at approximately 12:46 p.m., meaning staff and students were instructed to move into the nearest classroom and doors and windows were locked.

The lockdown was ordered after "a parent called with information that two unknown teens were let into the building by another student," Bryant said. As security personnel searched the building, the two individuals in question were reportedly seen leaving.

Bryant told 10TV that the Columbus Division of Police detained those two people in a nearby neighborhood a short time later. It's unclear why they were in the school and if there will be any charges.

The school lifted the lockdown at 1:08 p.m.

The incident remains under investigation.
