LANCASTER - Sgt. Mark Remington passed away Tuesday morning after a lengthy battle with cancer, according to the Lancaster Police Department.

"Remy" served in the United States Navy and the Army before serving 25 years with the Lancaster Police Department. He was forced to retire in 2018 after being diagnosed with stage four cancer.

After retiring, he still worked full time as an investigator for the Fairfield County Coroner's Office.

The Lancaster Police Department says "Remy's" life was one of service: first to country and then to the community.
