GALLIA COUNTY - Officials say three inmates who escaped custody from the Gallia County Jail have been captured.

Around 5:32 p.m. Sunday, Richard Clements Jr and two other inmates used force to escape the custody of the corrections staff at the Gallia County Jail, according to Sheriff Matt Champlin.

The other two inmates were captured and taken back into custody. Clements remained at large but was later captured in Circleville Monday afternoon by the United States Marshal Service.

According to the Circleville Police Department, Clements has family in the Circleville area which led authorities to believe he would be there.

Clements was taken without incident to the Pickaway County Jail.

Sheriff Champlin says the escape appears to be premeditated.
