LANCASTER, Ohio - Lancaster Police Department Lt. Brian Lowe passed away unexpectedly while off-duty Saturday.
The police department said Lowe was an “amazing officer and friend” and a “loving father and husband.”
"This is a shock to our entire agency and he is sadly missed," the department said in a statement on Sunday.
"Our prayers and thoughts are with Brian's family and friends."
According to the website for the City of Lancaster, Lowe was in charge of the department's Detective Bureau and Community Services Unit.
Lowe was also presented with the department's officer of the year award as a detective in 2001 and 2005.
Services and arrangements have not been announced.
