As many of you may know, I'm retiring from 10TV News this month. My last day on the air will be next Tuesday at 6. I've enjoyed a great 45-year career with the Dispatch Broadcast Group. I've been blessed to travel the world pursuing stories.

I'll be sharing some of my favorites with you.

One of the most exciting assignments I've had was being on a naval carrier and destroyer during their mission off the coast of Iraq in 1996.

The United States has the most potent fighting force on earth and women sailors make up part of that power which I found on full display in the Arabia Sea.

The Navy lifted its ban on women on submarines in 2010. As of last year, there were 93 female submariners.

In today's navy, more than 52,000 women serve in every rank - from seaman to admiral - and in every job from naval aviator to deep-sea diver.
