The zoo did not specify what caused the power outage on Thursday.

“The safety of our guests, staff, and animals is our top priority. Please know that the animals continue to be in great care, thanks to our devoted Animal Care, Security, and Facilities teams,” the zoo said.

Cameras from the Ohio Department of Transportation showed that crews responded to a crash on state Route 257 at Glick Road near the zoo. ODOT said Route 257 was closed in both directions.

It is unclear whether the crash was connected to the power outage.
