Columbus police: 3 injured in separate hit-and-runs on Tuesday

All three of the injured pedestrians were taken to local hospitals in what police describe as stable condition.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Three people were injured in separate hit-and-run incidents across Columbus on Tuesday.

South Eureka Avenue

The first incident happened around 5:40 p.m. in the Central Hilltop neighborhood. Police said a woman was getting into her car when an unidentified vehicle struck her from behind, forcing her into the door jam. The victim was unable to describe the vehicle or its occupants. 

A witness said they saw what they thought was a Chevrolet Cruze striking the victim and fleeing the scene. The victim who was struck was taken to Grant Medical Center, according to police. Their condition is described as stable.

The incident remains under investigation.

Interstate 71

Officers were called to a second hit-and-run incident around 7:20 p.m. in north Columbus. Officers with the Columbus Division of Police were called to the area of Interstate 71 and Cleveland Avenue near the Milo-Grogan neighborhood on a report of a pedestrian struck.

It’s unclear if the pedestrian was walking on Cleveland Avenue or the freeway at the time of the crash.

The person was taken to The Ohio State Wexner Medical Center in what was described by police as stable condition.

No description of the vehicle was provided by police.

West Mound Street, South Cypress Avenue

Another hit-and-run was reported in southwest Columbus near South Franklinton around 10:30 p.m.

A pedestrian was struck near the intersection of West Mound Street and South Cypress Avenue. Police described the vehicle that reportedly hit the person as a silver Ford.

The injured person was taken to Grant Medical Center, where their condition is described by police as stable.

No further information was provided.
