RICHLAND COUNTY, Ohio — A 28-year-old man and his 2-year-old son were killed in a two-vehicle crash that happened Tuesday afternoon in Richland County.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol says the crash happened around 12:45 p.m. on Bowman Street Road just north of Amoy East Road in Franklin Township.

Authorities say 28-year-old Colin Grassick of Gailon was driving a 2009 Ford Escape north on Bowman Street Road.

Grassick then hit a Freightliner semi that was traveling south on the same road.

Grassick was pronounced dead at the scene.

His son was taken to Ohio Health Mansfield and then flown to Nationwide Children's Hospital where he passed away.

Grassick's 6-year-old daughter was taken to Ohio Health Mansfield, where she is recovering.

The driver of the semi was also taken to Ohio Health Mansfield to be treated for minor injuries and was released.

OSHP says everyone in both vehicles was wearing seat belts. The investigation into the crash continues.
