Police Arrest Man In Connection To Whitehall Burglaries

A man is in custody after an undercover officer says he saw him loading stolen merchandise in a van. Find out more.

Terre Tunstalle said his  home just does not feel the same anymore, and his sense of security is turned upside down.

He changed after his Whitehall residence was burglarized.

“I couldn't sleep. I was up and down, worried about my animals, worried if someone was going to try and break-in again while I'm trying to get some rest,” said Tunstalle.

Whitehall Detective Steven Brown said his department received nine reports of home break-ins during a five week period beginning in January. The crimes all occurred in the Norton Field neighborhood.

Brown said Whitehall Police set up a surveillance operation which led to an arrest.

Zachary Weeks, 25, is charged with burglary and receiving stolen property.

Investigators said an undercover officer spotted the suspect loading a stolen van with stolen goods outside a Norton field home

The vehicle matched the description police had received from multiple people living in the neighborhood. Authorities pursued the van and made an arrest after the driver crashed.

Police said they found thousands of dollars in stolen electronics and other property in a home where Weeks lived.

Authorities said Weeks would steal the victim’s bags from their home and fill the bags with their own valuable items.

Investigators said they suspect Weeks may have exchanged or sold some of the items for drugs.

Police said they are testing the boots that Weeks was wearing when he was arrested. The investigation has linked Weeks to one burglary, but police are checking to see if he could be connected to others.

Tunstalle said he’s doing his part by making sure everything at his home is locked up from now on.
