Columbus man accused of throwing brick through car, striking young girl in the head

Court records stated that the child suffered a fractured skull and needed surgery to repair it.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — A Columbus man was charged after a young girl was seriously injured from a brick being thrown at them in the Hilltop neighborhood.

Around 11:10 a.m. Monday, a woman, a man and his child were traveling in a vehicle on Olive Street toward South Hague Avenue when someone threw a brick toward their vehicle.

Police said the brick shattered the driver’s side rear window and struck the girl in the head.

The child was taken to Nationwide Children’s Hospital with serious injuries. Franklin County Municipal Court records stated that the girl suffered a fractured skull and needed surgery to repair it.

Columbus police identified 29-year-old Brandon Roberts as the suspect. He was arrested by Columbus Police SWAT and charged with felonious assault.

Details on what led to the alleged incident were not provided. 

Roberts appeared in municipal court on Wednesday and was given a $500,000 bond.
