Columbus police Deputy Chief John Rockwell will become the new police chief at Port ColumbusInternational Airport, 10TV News reported on Tuesday.
Rockwell will also serve as the director of public safety for airport operations.
He is expected to retire from the Columbus Division of Police later this month before hetransitions to the airport.
Last week, a police sergeant and lieutenant from Port Columbus were placed on administrativeleave after they were accused of taking a gun and drug paraphernalia from the airport's evidenceroom.
