Countdown to camp: Strategies to get your kid into camp

Camp season will be here before you know it, and now is the time to sort out which activities are right for your children.

Some summer camps have already closed registration, while others get ready to open.

Camp leaders in Columbus and Dublin say research now will pay off in the long run.

"We've had calls from parents who just want to sit and talk about it and we love to hear from those folks," Dublin preschool youth supervisor Heath Gorden said. "If you have questions, give us a call. Our team is here to answer your questions."

Camp leaders give this advice for parents trying to book the perfect summer for their kids:

-Camp signups are first come, first serve

-Know your deadlines

-Get yourself on a waiting list

-Have a second and third option ready in case the camp of your choice is full

Camp leaders say it's all about planning and if you do that, you should be good to go come summer time.
