New numbers by the FBI show the first half of 2017 was a safer year.
Overall, violent crime in the United States decreased 0.8% between the months of January and June of 2017, and property crime dropped nearly three percent.
Columbus, however, saw an increase in two categories: Murders and car thefts.
But according to Columbus Police, crime numbers are down for the most part.
Crime is Down is Columbus! While homicide numbers showed an unacceptable increase last year, overall, violent crime was down double digits from 2016. Great job by all of you who actively work to make our city great. #togetherisbetter @ColumbusPolice pic.twitter.com/8t5H4LMwXg
