Police identify 2 men killed after single-vehicle crash in north Columbus

COLUMBUS - Columbus Police are investigating a single-vehicle that killed two people in north Columbus Saturday night.

Police responded to the crash just after 7:30 a.m. Sunday, and after viewing traffic cameras, police determined the crash happened just after 11 p.m. Saturday at Interstate 71 south to East 17th Avenue.

Police confirm Allen S. Dowe III, 31, and Dai'Juan Lee O'Shea Coates, 23, were killed in the crash, according to a press release.

Dowe, the driver of the 2005 Dodge Magnum, was southbound on I-71 and he lost control of the vehicle, spun off the right side of the road, continued down an embankment and slid into a tree.


I-71 southbound at E. 17th Avenue is currently closed at Hudson Street, according to police.

This is the 65th and 66th traffic fatalities in Columbus in 2017.
