The Ohio State University has confirmed that one person was arrested after tackling a protester during anti-Trump rally on campus Monday night.

Video captured by The Lantern shows the man run down the stairs and tackle the protester who was standing on the steps inside the Ohio Union.

The incident happened just before 6 p.m.

According to Franklin County Municipal Court records, the man accused of pushing the protester is Shane Stanton and he is charged with assault.

Stanton was in court on Tuesday and pleaded not guilty. His bond was set to $2,500.

Court records also show the protester hurt his hand in the incident.

After hitting the protester, Stanton is held down while police clear through the crowd. Officers are seen walking away with him as the crowd chants "shame."

After Stanton was removed, the demonstration continued for 10-15 minutes without further incident.

Ohio State issued the following statement:

"We witnessed a disturbing incident at a political demonstration on our campus this afternoon. As we said last week, the safety of our students and freedom of speech are bedrock, immutable principles that are the foundation of our university. Ohio State is investigating this incident thoroughly. We are thankful that the speaker appears to not have been seriously injured. The information we have at this time is detailed below. We will release more information as it becomes available. "

Trump supporter August Painter recorded the incident on cell phone video.

"I decided to start filming just in case something like this happened. There are a couple blood spots on the floor where the guy hit his nose I think. I’ve never seen anyone actually try to hurt another person like that before," he said.

Painter adds that he's never seen the man accused of shoving the demonstrator, and he's quick to point out that he does not condone the man's alleged actions.

"We don’t just attack people. We want to talk to people. We want everyone to be unifed. This is one nation under God—we want people to feel that way," he said.
