FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ohio - A woman is dead and a man is injured after the Franklin County Sheriff's Office said the pair tried to cross I-270 after a crash on the south side Friday morning.

The sheriff's office said a car crashed into a metal cable barrier in the median of I-270 westbound and west of I-71 just before 5 a.m.

Deputies said a man and a woman got out of the car and started to walk across the westbound lanes of I-270.

The woman was hit by two vehicles and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

She was later identified as 21-year-old Dallas Tallarico of Columbus.

The man was struck by a separate vehicle and taken to Grant Medical Center.

He was listed in critical condition, the sheriff's office said.

The driver of one of the vehicles that hit Tallarico was also taken to the hospital.

Investigators said alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor in the crash.

I-270 west in the area of the crash was shut down following the crash, but the road has since reopened.
