Woman found dead in Delaware Co. crash may have crashed weeks before vehicle was found


DELAWARE COUNTY -- The Ohio State Highway Patrol said a 27-year-old woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Delaware County.

The crash was found Thursday morning on Interstate 71, near mile post 134, in Kingston Township.

Authorities said the vehicle traveled off the east side of the road and struck a tree and fence before coming to a rest in a corn field.

The occupant, identified as Chelsea Dowler from Springfield, Ohio, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Lt. Robert Sellers with OSHP confirmed to 10TV that investigators believe the crash happened weeks before the the vehicle was found Thursday.

Lt. Sellers said according to Springfield police, Dowler took the vehicle from her father without his permission around August 20.

Lt. Sellers said investigators believe the crash happened after August 20.

The Delaware Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the crash.
