USPS releasing ‘Sesame Street’ stamps; honors series turning 50 this year

The United States Postal Service is releasing several new stamp subjects this year, including one honoring a beloved kids’ television show.

“Sesame Street” will be 50 years old this year, and the USPS is honoring that anniversary by releasing postage stamps depicting several of the characters like Big Bird, Ernie, Bert, Cookie Monster, The Count, Oscar the Grouch, Elmo and more.

“For the last 50 years, it has provided educational programming and entertainment for generations of children throughout the country and around the world,” USPS said in a news release.

USPS is also releasing stamps with a Tyrannosaurus rex theme and a “Spooky Silhouettes” theme for fall.

More details on when the stamps will be released are coming soon.
