One killed in Union County head-on crash

Authorities say one person was killed Wednesday afternoon in a Union County crash.

The crash happened on US 33 near US 42 around 3:00 p.m Wednesday.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, a Jeep was traveling eastbound and went off the left side of the road and hit a tanker truck and a Cadillac Escalade head-on.

The driver of the Jeep, identified as Kimberly Mintier of Marysville, was killed in the crash. The tanker truck driver had minor injuries, and the driver of the Cadillac was not injured.

The truck was carrying a hazardous material but investigators have yet to release exactly what was on board.

While the crash remains under investigation, troopers indicated early Thursday that alcohol is suspected to have been involved.

Work to cleanup the scene continued into Thursday morning, with the final lanes of US 33 reopening shortly after 7:00 a.m.
