Two men have been arrested in Pike County after leading law enforcement on a high-speed chase.

Ohio State Highway Patrol said the suspects were reportedly driving a stolen BMW. When troopers tried to pull them over in Ross County, they fled.

A team of deputies and troopers launched a manhunt in Waverly after they ditched the car and took off on foot.

“They're local so they probably do know the area and thought they could get away on foot,” Tim Karwatske with OSHP said.

But within 10 minutes authorities had the passenger in handcuffs and quickly took the driver into custody.

Karwatske said authorities have been discovering a rash of stolen vehicles in the area and they’ve been working with the Ross and Pike County Sheriff’s Offices to ahead of the trend.

Eyewitnesses said the pursuit appeared to reach speed of 100 MPH before the suspects veered off the road and bailed.

Both men are facing felony theft charges.
